Khalifa International Stadium is a multi-stage - the features found in Doha, Qatar. Before the implementation of the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, the stadium used to run football, but at this stage there are also other facilities for various sports. The stadium has a capacity of 50,000 people. Khalifa International Stadium is the main stadium and the implementation of the 2006 Asian Games is part of the sports complex in the city of Doha, which also includes the ASPIRE Academy, Hamad Aquatic Centre and the Aspire Tower. This stage is the headquarters of the Qatar national football team.


The stadium was opened in 1976, but renewed until 2005, and expanded its capacity for the 2006 Asian Games to the original 20,000 seats to 50,000 seats. A roof was built on the west side of the stadium, and the arches on the east side that is used as a platform for the fireworks at the Opening Ceremony of the 2006 Asian Games.

Many sporting events in the 2006 Asian Games held in this stadium, including the Opening and Closing Ceremony of the Asian Games itself. In 2011, the stadium is home to 2010 Asian Cup.
